Frequently Asked Questions

  • Our core program is group therapy, offered across up to 14 hybrid groups per week spanning a wide range of modalities: DBT, CBT, ACT, mindfulness, art therapy, psychoeducation, somatic practice, and more. Groups run in the morning, early afternoon, and evening, and every group is available both in-person and virtually.

Beyond groups, we offer individual therapy, peer support and recovery coaching, and case management. Every client works with a clinician to build a personalized schedule that fits their life and their clinical needs.

We treat substance use disorders, mental health challenges, and co-occurring conditions. We work with adolescents and adults.

  • Call us at 413-591-7200 or email admissions@commoncollab.com and someone will get back to you the same day. The first step is just a conversation: we'll talk through what you're looking for, answer your questions, and figure out together whether Common Collab is the right fit. If we are, we'll walk you through the rest. If someone else would serve you better, we'll help you find them.

  • Most treatment programs ask you to fit their model. We built ours around the reality that recovery looks different for everyone.

We offer real clinical depth — licensed clinicians, evidence-based modalities, a structured program — alongside genuine flexibility in how you engage with it. You and your clinician build your schedule together based on your goals, your life, and where you are clinically. There's no rigid track, no predetermined outcome, and no assumption that your recovery should look like anyone else's.

We also believe the relationship between a client and their care team matters as much as any clinical intervention. We're a small, community-rooted program in Great Barrington, and that's a feature, not a limitation. You'll be known here.

We're available Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 6pm. After hours, leave a message and we'll get back to you the next business day. If you're in crisis, please call or text 988.

  • It depends on your situation. For some people, particularly those who have been drinking heavily for a long period of time, stopping without medical support can be physically dangerous. If that sounds like you, a medical detox is an important first step before outpatient treatment. We help people figure this out during our admissions process, and if detox is indicated, we'll connect you with the right place and be ready for you when you're done.

If you're unsure whether you need detox, call us. Whether you're figuring this out for yourself, for someone you love, or you're a professional looking to make a referral, we'd be glad to help you find the right starting point.

  • We don't. Common Collab is an outpatient program. We offer group therapy, individual therapy, peer support, and recovery coaching in a flexible, community-based setting. For people who need a higher level of care first, we are happy to help navigate that. Whether you're a person seeking treatment, a family member trying to help someone you love, or a provider looking to place a client, call us. We know the landscape, we'll be straight with you about what's out there, and we'll help you find the right fit.

  • No. People come to Common Collab with a wide range of goals. Some want full abstinence. Others want to reduce their use, understand their patterns better, or simply explore what a different relationship to substances might look like. We don't require a specific outcome or a commitment to any particular path. We help you figure out what you actually want and build toward that.

  • Yes. We work with most major commercial insurance plans and accept MassHealth Berkshire Fallon. During our admissions process we run a benefits verification so you have a clear picture of your coverage before you start. If you have questions about a specific plan, call us at 413-591-7200 or email admissions@commoncollab.com.

  • We offer up to 14 hybrid groups per week, available both in-person and virtually, across a range of modalities including DBT, CBT, ACT, mindfulness, art therapy, and more. Groups run in the morning, early afternoon, and evening. You and your clinician build a schedule together that fits your life and your clinical needs. Individual therapy is available but not required. Most people attend between two and six groups per week depending on where they are in their recovery.

  • Every group at Common Collab is available both in-person at our Great Barrington location and virtually. You can attend from home on some days and in person on others. We built the program this way because we believe access to care shouldn't depend on transportation, work schedules, or geography.

  • We are not a 12-step program, and we don't require any particular approach to recovery. We believe there are many valid pathways and our job is to help you find the one that fits. Some of our groups draw from 12-step principles. Others draw from Buddhist philosophy, narrative therapy, somatic practice, or motivational approaches. You choose what resonates.
