Substance Use

Substance use disorder takes many forms. It looks different from person to person, and the path through it does too.

At Common Collab, an outpatient substance use treatment program in Great Barrington, MA, we work with people navigating all kinds of substance use: alcohol, cannabis, opioids, stimulants, poly-substance use, and more. We serve individuals throughout Berkshire County and western Massachusetts. We don't require you to have hit a particular bottom, received a particular diagnosis, or committed to a particular outcome before you walk in. If your relationship to substances is something you want to explore or change, that's enough.

We believe substance use disorder is a treatable condition, not a moral failing. We also believe that treatment works best when it's built around the person, not the diagnosis.

What we offer:

Our outpatient group therapy program in Great Barrington spans a range of modalities including DBT, CBT, ACT, mindfulness, relapse prevention, and psychoeducation. Clients build a schedule with their clinician that fits both their clinical needs and their actual life. Individual therapy is available for those who want dedicated therapeutic support. Peer support and recovery coaching connect you with people who understand the experience from the inside.

For people who need a medical detox before starting outpatient treatment in Berkshire County, we help you find the right place and support your transition when you're ready.

Who this looks like:

People in the Berkshires questioning their relationship to substances for the first time. People stepping down from a higher level of care and looking for a sustainable next step. People who've tried other programs and want something that feels different. People who aren't sure they have a problem but can't stop thinking about it.

Frequently asked questions

Do you treat opioid addiction in the Berkshires?

Yes. We work with people navigating opioid use disorder as part of our outpatient program. For those who need medication-assisted treatment, we coordinate with local MAT providers in Berkshire County and help you access what you need alongside your outpatient care.

Do I need to be sober before I start?

No. You can begin our program wherever you are. If you've been drinking or using heavily and a medical detox would help you get stable first, we'll help you find the right place and be ready for you when you're done. But there's no sobriety requirement to walk through our door. We meet you where you are.
